Libraries are not for brushing your teeth
My favorite coffee shop’s wi-fi isn’t working so I parked myself at the local Public Library to get some work done. Not far from my little computer cubby is a homeless woman in her own cubby. She unpacked her whole cart: beverages, clothing, and oddly, a portable DVD player. I’m not sure what she’s been watching but it must be funny because the belly laughs (she’s a big woman) have reverberated from the walls.
Her movie ended and she went silent. But wait…a new noise. Could it be? Could it really be? She’s brushing her teeth.
Brush, brush, brush…and…spit.
I shudder to think where she deposited her left-over toothpaste because I don’t dare peek over the cubby.
At least she has good oral hygiene.
