Weekend Redux
Big ‘ol party weekend, this was. Maybe one too many bottles of Victory Storm King but a successful reveal of The #1 and The #2.
Read on.
Junior
Saturday afternoon he gave his first real giggle, starting to dispense with the typical gooing and bubble blowing. He’s also found his abdominal muscles and pulled himself into a sitting position on my lap. It wasn’t long before he was hunched over the front, not yet discovering his back muscles.
End of Maternity Leave Party
Although I wonder why we are celebrating a return to work, it was a good blowout for an indoor party.
The #1 was a huge hit because who doesn’t like a little lemon now and then? Shadan and I finished the recipe for The #2, the ingredients I can’t recall at the moment, but it tasted like a mudslide with a slight kick. We created another original as ours didn’t use Kahlua and was better without it.
It looks like Junior has changed his grouchiness pattern which means we spend the first few hours of the party keeping him chilled out. He used to sleep after 5:00 PM, now he starts fussing until his 8:00 PM bedtime.
I was reminded, yet again, that being the host of a party is nowhere near the fun of being a guest. I got the chance to talk to most of the guests but not at any great length. As it was Shadan was Hero of the Bar by keeping The #1 and The #2 flowing. He’s a natural at #1 and #2.
Props to Karen and Monica for making sure the guests were fed while Laura was in Junior’s room administering the liquid gold.
Cameron raked in some nice gifts although the wine bottles with attached feeding bottle may need to age for awhile.
Lunch at the Beach
Sunday we hit the beach for a quick lunch. Three couples, three strollers, four kids. If I have ever felt like I a parent, this was it. Fortunately there is safety in numbers.
