Christmas wrap-up

Christmas 2005 goes down in history as one of the best. Junior was the main draw and got plenty of loot. He’ll have enough until age 10.

Watching our parents turn into grandparents is an experience. You can’t tear Junior away from my father and he’s been named the “senior Baby Whisperer.” My mom gets some time here and there but mostly handing him back to dad.

The wife’s parents have been taking a cautious approach and as the holiday hosts, have their hands full with cleaning, meals, and entertaining. My father-in-law is clearly interested but not sure what to do with a 10-week old blob. Mother-in-law has graciously baby sat for a few hours at a time, giving us a break.

This Christmas reminds me of my youth when all of the family came together in one place: grandparents on both sides, uncles, and cousins. I’m thankful to both families and their loved ones for making the trip to Arizona.

I used to be a terrible gift-giver, relying on my family to give me lists and there was hardly anything you’d consider a long-lasting heirloom. But in the last five years I’ve turned around and paid attention to my family’s interests throughout the year. There’s nothing more touching than giving a gift which brings a tear to someone’s eye.

I got some great loot but not the evasive Xbox 360. My brother scored a Core system so I’ll have someone to team with.
