Could Expose be any easier? Yes, add application icons

Published by Eric at 9:11 am under Macintosh

Expose is the Mac’s window manager. With a keypress or mouse click all of your open windows shrink and become thumbnails (of varying sizes) on your desktop. Trouble is you can’t always discern which window is what because they’re small.

Sure, you can hover over a window and see the application name or window title but that doesn’t necessarily improve things. How about this Apple? Add an application icon over each window. That way I can visually discern which window is which and get there faster.

Case in point: blogging for Divester. I’ll have Safari, Firefox, and NetNewsWire open with more than window per app. Activating Expose and hovering over identical looking browser windows is more trouble than it’s worth. But add an application icon and it’s gravy.

Mind you, I didn’t spend much time making this pretty but is Expose easier to visualize with the icons?
