Who made who?

The topic of teaching intelligent design in public schools is disquieting. I don’t learn about Catholicism in public school so why should I be taught the genesis of evolution as inspired by the Divine (the “intelligence” behind creation)?

A few months earlier a staunch atheist successfully litigated the phrase “one Nation under God” out of the Pledge of Allegience.

One month we strike the word “God” from public schools and the next month we put him back in disguised as something else. What am I supposed to think about this? What would I tell my children?

A recent article in National Geographic stated the results of a 20-year Gallop poll of U.S. citizens. Interesting results, no doubt making the push for Intelligent Design a formidable one.

Stats after the jump.

  • 45% believe humans are created directly from the Divine and absent of Darwin’s evolution
  • 37% believe humans evolved according to Darwin’s theory but the starting point was Divine
  • 12% believe humans evolved according to Darwin’s theory but from other life forms
