Junior: through Day 3
I’m writing this from home (!) as I snuck away for a shower and to get some laundry done. It’s been great staying at the hospital and learning the ropes but it feels so good to escape for a bit. The kid is great - it’s being locked up in the hospital which is getting old.
How’s it been through day 3?
Sleep? Who needs sleep?
I think the kid would sleep more given his choice, but they want you to change/feed/burp every three hours. He’s being good to me on diaper contents and burping - no super nasty gross-outs except for that very first diaper.
Not much crying (yet)…just when he’s hungry. He’ll stick his tongue out and move his head looking for the milk truck. After a good fill-up he’s off to sleep assuming he’s not chowing for an hour like last night. I gues this is why babies are so damn cute - keep you motiviated to perform the maintenance.
I highly recommend a DVD called The Happiest Baby on the Block (thanks grandpa Matt). All of the techniques work, and work well, to keep a crying baby quiet. So far at least.
I gotta wrap this up as my Burping/Diaper-Changing Self is being called back into service once the laundry is done. Maybe I’ll select a longer drying time…
