LA Times reports kelp restoration project has mixed results
I’ve done a lot of diving with Orange County CoastKeeper and their kelp restoration project. Don’t bother looking for it on their (new) site because they nixed the project when tempers flared and power-plays took over. The project has moved to Santa Monica BayKeeper although their site is light on reading material about the program.
Anyway, the LA Times article references an unsuccessful project in 1988 (unless it’s a typo they’re referring to some really old information) and failed to mention the recent success of the program in Orange County.
I’m waiting to get the 2005 End Of Project report which details the restoration efforts in the OC. I’ll post it when I get it.
